New Year, New Workshops!

Thursday, January 10th from 6-10pm
California Academy of Sciences
What’s that one thing you always wanted to learn to do, but just never got around to – knitting? DJing? Beer brewing? The time has come! In honor of the New Year, Cal Academy's NightLife event is teaming up with experts across the Bay Area, to present the ultimate how-to workshop.

What are we making?
Amelia Strader, owner of GoGo Craft, will be there to show you the basics of knitting. This hands-on demo is designed for absolute beginners who always wanted to learn how to knit but were too intimidated to try. Learn the basic foundation steps of knitting; cast-on, knit stitch, and cast-off - all the steps you will need to know to make a warm and stylish skinny scarf.

Sunday, January 13th 2pm

Brighten up your January with this Mini Quilt Workshop at the California Historical Society! Individuals and families can enjoy a special tour of the current exhibition, I See Beauty in this Life: A Photographer Looks at 100 Years of Rural California.

What are we making?
Then let GoGo Craft show you how to use traditional stitching techniques to turn vintage and scrap fabric into a modern quilt for your home. Not too handy with a sewing machine? Not to worry! This hand sewing project can be completed with just a needle and thread. Materials and instruction provided.

San Jose Museum of Art
Thursday, January 17th 5-8pm

The San Jose Museum of Art is presenting a special SJMADE Mini Mart! San Jose Made (SJMADE) is a platform for local San Jose makers, labels, brands, small businesses, and artists to showcase and sell current projects and goods. For one night only, SJMADE will gather a small group of its independent makers in SJMA’s lobby for an SJMADE Mini Mart.

What are we making?
You can peruse the wares and then create a unique, upcycled cup cozy or t-shirt bracelet with the help of GoGo Craft, a mobile crafting workshop that provides exciting and accessible make-and-take projects for participants at all skill levels.

Admission to SJMADE Mini Mart is free.
